Let the smiles begin :)

New photo right here!
Sleeping at home in the new crib

Chillin' in da bassinet at the Hospital
Deep in Thought

My mommy loves me

Very much

I'm gonna be an audiophile...I passed my hearing test with flying colors!

A big yawn for dad.
In the elevator, on my way home!

Now I'm in the car, first ride!

Yeah, he's pretty cute...

Seriously, this photo deserves some kind of award, and not just for "cutest kid ever." The use of light and the contrasts and color saturation were work of genius! Though Rodin's "The Thinker" may come to mind, Samuel was not using that as inspiration for his hand placement.

Pictures coming soon...

Samuel Nelson Schoenfelder was born on Monday, February 26, 2007 at 12:10pm at 20" long weighing 6 lbs 12.3 oz. Brown hair, blue eyes, devastatingly handsome is he. As soon as we get settled here at home I will upload a few photos of the little guy, and if I can figure out how to post videos to youtube I will make sure that you get to see him in action.

I'd apologize for not live blogging during the birth, but I was needed elsewhere...and didn't have a computer at the Hospital anyway.

More to follow...

The World of Furniture

USA Baby is now talking to me as little as possible. All of their responses to me are via email, but they also have sent faxes to confirm shipments per my request. They don't call me on the phone anymore, and they try to get me off the phone as soon as possible if I call them. Fun!

Big news today, we received confirmation that the crib (and rails, hopefully) are en route from Georgia. The truck left the 19th, and depending on the # of stops the truck makes on the way to Seattle, we should have the crib in early March, though knowing our luck, we should plan on the end of July so we're not disappointed.

In their brilliance, they sent me their invoice with no line items struck. I now know what they paid for the crib and who gets the invoice (Fardos Management in NC). I can now send the owner of the store a letter if I so desire, and I have some added ammunition should I choose to have them reduce the price I paid even further.

Since we'll get the crib at least 2 weeks late (by their math) and 3 weeks late by ours, how should I go about convincing them to reduce the cost? Give me your ideas.

Who? When? How big?

Christina, Cabrelle's sister, has set up a site where you can guess when the li'l dude will be born and how big he'll be. Check it out! Winner gets Nostradamus status, or something.

GUESS!

And while I'm at it, here's today's pop quiz:
What two words that rhyme are what you would call an enemy of our cat? Answers should be posted in the comments section. Hint: Total # of letters is less than seven.

Family Photo - Preview

Miraculously, Mowter looked towards the camera when the photo was taken. There are three of us...soon to be four, woohoo!
And isn't the glider cool lookin'? Awww yeahhhh.

Finally (part 1 of 2)

On Friday night I got a brief call from USA Baby saying that the glider and ottoman had been delivered to their store, so on Saturday went and picked them up. Putting the chair together was relatively simple, and now it's up and gliding. The chair looks great in the baby's room (name still t.b.d). Pics will be posted later on.

I'm considering filing a complaint with the BBB regarding deceptive practices on the part of USA Baby. Top and center of the sales receipt it says 8-12 weeks for delivery. Then below, it provides a delivery window, which in our case was Jan 18-Feb 18, or 9-13 weeks if you're playing at home. I'm not sure of the legal implications of this probable "glitch" in their software.
Thoughts?

Editors note: Part 2 of 2 will be posted after the crib arrives. Don't stay tuned, it may be a while.

JUST 14 DAYS!?

An interrobang is a combination question mark/exclamation point. Unfortunately it's not common enough to warrant a button on a keyboard...the only place I can find it is in the Wingdings 2 font in MS Word. And of course that doesn't lend nicely to copying and pasting into other documents... but check it out, if you hold down the key and type 8253, it shows up in Word.

So 2 weeks, 14 days, til the due date. Of course, we're now ready at any moment for the li'l dude to request an exit, and the excitement can only build. Are you ready!?

Learning

Let's review what we've learned so far this week, shall we?

1) To become an astronaut, you apparently don't have to take any kind of psychological test to show you're not insane.
2) To become an astronaut, you don't have to be continent.
3) To some people, 12 weeks is equal to 3 months. Those people also think that a baker's dozen and the number twelve are identical.
4) Furniture won't ship from the East coast until the truck is 100% full. Please go out this weekend and buy about 2 grand worth of Baby's Dream furniture, preferably cribs. I'll let you know when the truck ships and then you can cancel your order so as not to have to actually receive and pay for the stuff.
5) A third man has entered the ring as the possible baby-daddy of Anna Nicole's infant. I can file that in the round file under "things that you hear once...and promptly forget."
6) It's not that hard to swaddle a baby. It's useful, and recommended.

28 Days To Go!

It's week 36, only four weeks to go til the "due" date. It's getting more real every day that life is going to permanently change in a good way. Every phone call that I get from this point forward will get my heart rate up.

In other news, did you watch The Office last night? Hysterical.

Baby Stuff Update

I have some reasonably good news...in the past week, we've received the stroller, car seat, dresser and hutch for the kiddo. We had to build the dresser/hutch, which wasn't too much of a pain...and the stroller was a lot more complicated than I had planned. Oh, those crazy Italians. But we got it all figured out and it rolls smoothly.

The glider and ottoman are supposed to be in Seattle by February 10, but there is still no official word on our crib.
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhh.
