The Pumpkin Patch

It seems like Sundays are the big day for us to hit the town and do fun things lately. Maybe it's because each Saturday is filled up with activities until about 1pm and then it's nap time. So this Sunday we hit the pumpkin patch at Remlinger Farms in Carnation; joining us was Sam's friend Jackson and his family and friends. It was a beautiful day to explore, enjoy the hayride, and eat a caramel apple. Yum!
Sam stands tall.

Is it me, or did this gourd look at him funny?

"Yeah Mom, this is a nice pumpkin, but that other one is better."

There's Jackson, hamming it up.

By popular (and repetitious) demand, Sam and Mom took the tractor-pulled hayride twice in a row!

The li'l man underestimated this pumpkin's heft.

He really enjoyed his first caramel apple, requesting many, many bites.

Before we headed home, we got one quick family photo.

Bainbridge Island! Let's do it!

This weekend included a trip to Bainbridge Island for a day away from the city and some October fun. After a sweet ferry ride where Sam demanded we hang out outside the whole time and at one point danced to a man playing an accordion-type instrument, it was off to a park for Sam to run around and (hopefully) tire himself out, which will of course be measured by how much he sleeps that night. We made sure he climbed a few small hills and some steps to add to the energy release. Then before doing some shopping and having a bit of ice cream (at Mora, YUM!), we let him throw rocks in the water. On the ferry ride back, Sam met a State Patrolman who hooked him up with some schwag, consisting of a badge and a pencil. It was a fun day, Mom and Dad are tired too. Nightnight.

Once at the front of the ferry, a gust of wind suprised our young hero.

But he regained his composure quickly.

And we moved to the "back boat," where Mom and Sam waved 'hello'.

Perhaps he has a future in gymnastics?

Yes, perhaps so.

He's ready for the monkey bars.

Sam enjoys a swing with Dad.

Sam, you gotta work on your aim! Plenty of strength though.

Comin' atchya!

...just before the stick went **splash**

Just before leaving, he drew a line in the sand just to make sure that Mom and Dad were on his team.
